Elle Magazine Analysis

The masthead of Elle's magazine is spaced out across the top of the magazine, and is in a bold gold colour, which suits the magazine as it has Taylor Swift in it who has blonde hair, so they are similar colours. The background is white and it's obvious what is the masthead of this magazine as it is imprinted on the top behind the main image.
The main coverline is "2010 Power Dressing". This is also in Gold. The font is quite large too which makes it stand out. It gives readers the sense of how to dress in 2010 and what is in style at the moment, which would draw readers to buy the magazine.
The main image is of Taylor Swift, who is the only image on the cover of the magazine. As she is a popular celebrity, fans of hers would want to buy and read the magazine as they would like to read on her story. This could also indicate that the magazine is more for feminine readers.

Heat magazine

Magazine Layout:
The masthead in this magazine is "heat". This is a good masthead which catches your eye because it refers to the word "hot" which could show that the magazine is a hot magazine to buy, with lots of fiery gossip. It is situated just below the top left. It stands out quite well as it is in bold and in an eye catching red colour. It is also larger than the rest of the text on the front cover.
The main cover-line in this is "R-Pattz & Kristen talk to heat" which makes people want to know information about, and which is a good main cover line as the two celebrities are very popular. And also the films they have been in the "Twilight" saga are also very popular, which catches fans eyes, which could increase the selling of the magazine.
The main image of the magazine is the main cover lines celebrities, Robert Patterson and Kristen Stewart. This is good as it is relevant to the main cover line. They are the main image as they have the biggest photo on the magazine, and also the main cover line is about them which covers them as being the main story line in the magazine.
Finally, the coverlines in this magazine are the ones that say "All the latest gossip!" which refers to celebrities and television programmes or new movie previews. This shows that this magazine is a celebrity and movie magazine, which covers all the popular and hottest gossip at the moment.
